Small red beans are similar to red kidney beans, except that they are smaller in size. Small red beans are also called Mexican Red Beans. They hold their shape and firmness when cooked. Each #10 can is sealed with an oxygen absorber. If stored in a cool, dry place, beans should last 10+ years. In an emergency situation, boiling the beans in water for 20 minutes will kill any bacteria and will still give you some nutrition.
