Pearled barley refers to covered barley that has been processed to remove the tough inedible outer hull and then pearled or polished. Great in soups and breads. The #10 can holds approximately 5.75 pounds/12 cups of Barley.

Each #10 can is sealed with an oxygen absorber. If stored in a cool, dry place, beans should last 10+ years. In an emergency situation, boiling the beans in water for 20 minutes will kill any bacteria and will still give you some nutrition.
